EVENTS & TRAINING

Young Hammersmith & Fulham provides community members with opportunities for learning, upskilling and knowledge-sharing so that the voluntary youth sector can deliver the best support for young people.

Our training and events programme is free to all members of the Young H&F community and it's built around the real challenges and priorities facing those who work with young people in Hammersmith & Fulham.

Level Up Youth Work

Many of our trainings and forums have been made possible by the Level Up Youth Work programme, a 3-year programme funded by Propel designed to support people working directly with children and young people across Northwest London.

Led by a partnership of six Young People’s Foundations (including us!), Level Up Youth Work was created with and for the sector, especially those working in small, grassroots organisations, to make sure high-quality training, qualifications, and peer support are truly accessible.

As part of this work, Young Hammersmith & Fulham is also proud to offer youth work qualifications. In 2024, we partnered with Young Ealing Foundation to deliver a Level 1 Certificate in Youth Work to 20 young people across our boroughs. Each participant completed a unit workbook and portfolio and was supported with London Living Wage payments throughout the course. We're proud to be playing a part in nurturing the next generation of youth workers from within our own communities.

Trainings & Forums

Our trainings and forums are always guided by the needs of our community membership and the wider youth sector in Hammersmith & Fulham. We believe that professional development should never be one-size-fits-all, which is why each session is designed in response to what our community tells us they need. Whether it’s about deaf awareness in a youth setting, LGBTQ+ inclusion or trauma-informed practice training, we work with expert facilitators and frontline practitioners to deliver content that’s relevant, and often grounded in lived experience.

These sessions don’t just offer skills and knowledge - they also offer a space for connection, reflection and peer support. Alongside our trainings, Young H&F forums, such as our Youth Worker Forums, have also become a valuable platform for sharing challenges and opportunity and spotlighting innovative practice. Our goal is to strengthen the whole youth ecosystem by supporting the people at the heart of it, and every training or forum plays a role in building a more confident, collaborative, and well-equipped sector.

Community Coffee Mornings

Our monthly Community Coffee Mornings are a chance for Young H&F members to take a breather, have a brew, and catch up with others working with young people across the borough. So much of youth sector work relies on strong relationships, and these mornings are all about creating a super casual space to chat, swap ideas, and build the connections that make a big difference. It’s informal, it’s friendly and there’s coffee (and tea, juice and pastries too).

“The coffee mornings are really important to me - they offer a break from the pressures of my role and connect me to a community of people who genuinely understand. Sometimes it’s as simple as a croissant and a chat, but it’s also a chance to network, share good news, and leave feeling re-energised.
